Urban planning competition for Max Becker site in Cologne has been completed

October 2022

… and the winner is: CITYFÖRSTER with urbanegestalt!

In cooperation with the city of Cologne and RheinEnergie AG, we have held a very exciting urban planning and open space architectural competition for the former Max Becker site over the past few months. Now the final decision has been made! The planning team consisting of CITYFÖRSTER and urbanegestalt convinced the jury of experts by a majority and was chosen as the winner. This means that the plans for the entire site in the west of Cologne, with a total area of around 17.5 hectares, are becoming more concrete.

Based on this draft, a new mixed-use urban quarter will be realized in Cologne-Ehrenfeld in the next few years. Under the project name PĀN, around 1,700 apartments, approx. 4,000 workplaces, social infrastructure, local shopping facilities as well as sports, cultural and youth facilities and extensive public green spaces will be created in a central city location.

More information about the architectural contest can be found in our press release (DE).
